Payments overview
Choose between mobile money push, hosted checkout, payment links and Control Numbers.
TeePay gives you four ways to get paid. All of them end the same way: a verified, ledger-posted
payment and a payment.completed webhook.
| Best for | Who enters the phone number | Your effort | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mobile money push | Your own checkout, apps, POS, gateways you build | You collect it and send it | Medium |
| Checkout sessions | Online stores and invoices you generate | The customer, on TeePay's page | Low |
| Payment links | Social selling, chat, one-off requests | The customer, on TeePay's page | None to low |
| Control Numbers | Bills, school fees, repeat customers in Tanzania | The customer pays from their bank or wallet | Medium |
Supported markets
Collections currently run in Tanzania (TZ) in Tanzanian shillings (TZS) through M-Pesa, Airtel Money, Mixx by Yas and HaloPesa. TeePay adds markets, such as Kenya and Uganda, only after each payment route is verified. Your key's markets are always listed by capabilities, so read them instead of hard-coding a country. See Countries and currencies.
Amounts
Amounts are integer minor units of the payment's currency (ISO 4217). TZS uses two decimal places, so
"500000" is TZS 5,000.00; other currencies can differ (UGX uses none).
Your account has per-transaction and daily limits; requests outside them fail with
collection_limit_exceeded or invalid_amount and nothing is charged.
